Discovery

Being the bad parents we are, we locked our son into his room when we first moved him in. He was only 18 months and we wanted to treat his entire room like a crib and make it safe. To us, baby gating a child in (as the books suggests) or holding the door knob for an hour so they can't get out (also as the book suggests) was no different then simply turning the door knob around and locking it.

This worked. He tried a few times and ever since has just stayed in his room. But as we are nearing the potty training year, we felt it was important to let go of this crutch and for him to learn to stay in his room - even if he has the freedom to leave - unless he needs something...like a bathroom!

It's been a few weeks, but Q finally discovered the door was unlocked.

Ohhhh!
